Library Club

The Library Club is opened to anyone who would like to join.  We meet once a month during ACE (according to the club meetings calendar for the school year).  The 2017-2018 officers are:

  • President - Jordan McKinney & Morgan O'Neal
  • Vice President - Jordan Robinson
  • Secretary - Lanie Harmon
  • Assistant Secretary - De'Asia Cook
  • Treasurer - Makayla Garrett
  • Reporter - Kadarious Davis
  • Special Projects - Jakyae Barnett
  • Miss SHS Representative - Shania Finley
  • Miss Homecoming - Jordan McKinney

The Library Club sponsors various service projects.  During the month of October, the Library Club will bag groceries in order to raise money to sponsor a team for Relay for Life.  The club will also sponsor a canned food drive during this time. All donations will be given to the Care House.  We will participate in the collection of candied yams for SAFE when asked to do so.  The District schools assist in feeding families for Thanksgiving.  Sylacauga Health Care and Coosa Valley Health Care nursing homes are our service projects for December.  We will make large goodies boxes for both locations and ARC.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit resident rooms, while Christmas carols will be sung throughout the hallways and activity centers.  These visits are always enjoyable by all.  Additionally, goody boxes will be made for our maintenance staff, and small gifts will be presented to our cafeteria staff.  After returning to our campus, Santa and Mrs. Claus and family will visit all teachers and administration, wishing them a Merry Christmas and give out candy canes.

Other upcoming service projects include:  1) Co-sponsor the Veteran's Day Program; 2) Help with the school's Black History Month program; 3) Read Across America and Dr. Seuss Birthday; 4) Library Club vs. Faculty volleyball game (donations will be divided between American Diabetes Foundation and the Library Media Center); 5) Adopt a Daycare Center; and 6) Volunteer with Special Olympics.
